PW124 BLEED VALVE PROBLEM

Note 1: The crew has reported performance problems with this engine. The same night the line mechanic made a FDAU drain and emailed us the data. With a step change on all four parameters, this looked like a cool section problem. We recommended that the function on the bleed valves was troubleshooted.

Note 2: The intercompressor bleed valve was found faulty and replaced the next night.

After all parameters returned to baseline values, safe operation of the engine could resume.

This example illustrates that close teamwork between the operator and DETA, effectively reduced the troubleshooting time, and by that saving costly downtime for the operator.
